YOGA CENTRAL is a unique Yoga Studio where all paths and all walks of life come together to experience the joy of practicing Yoga. Conveniently located at the SW Corner of Central and Woodlawn in Wichita, Kansas, we bring experienced, qualified teachers and Yoga Therapists together to teach classes and private sessions to all ages and experience levels.

Our mission is to bring people together to learn and experience the joy of Yoga in a safe and caring environment.

All teachers have extensive training in  a variety of syles: Iyengar, Anusara, Flow, Restorative, Tantra, and Thai Yoga Therapy, as well as classes for MS, Chair Yoga, and Yoga for the Special Child. Because classes are small, we are able to give personalized attention to each individual student.

We hope to enable each person to find different ways to practice, according to their needs and wants. We teach in a loving and caring atmosphere, with gracious acceptance of each person who enters our space.

We offer a variety of classes for all levels, and our teachers are qualified to make modifications for you if you have special medical needs. Drop in for class whenever it is convenient for you--no need to sign up. Cost is $7/ class; or unlimited classes for $70/mo. for our community classes.   Semi private classes can be arranged also at the discretion of the instructor.

Private yoga lessons and therapy, as well as Thai Yoga Therapy and Massage are by appointment.   Please feel free to call us with any questions at 706-YOGA or email teachers@yogacentral.info

A. No! You can be at any level of flexibility. If you are not very flexible, we have props to help you, and all our teachers are trained to help you make appropriate modifications in your poses.

Q. Do I need my own mat?

A. Yes, it is a good idea, but we do have one you can borrow if you need to.

Q. Can older people do Yoga?

A. Absolutely! You can start at any age and reap great benefits, although it is important to begin and work carefully.

Q. Is Yoga a religion?

A. No, it is not. Yoga is compatible with all religions and walks of life, with respect for all paths and all beings. The word, “Yoga” means to join or connect.

Yoga is better described as a proven ancient system of health and wellness, originally designed to be taught one on one, which addresses mental focus and alignment, as well as physical strength, endurance and flexibility

Q. Anything special to know before coming to class?

A. Yes. It is best not to eat a large meal beforehand. Wear comfortable clothing, but please, no perfumes, as some people have allergies.

Pam Welch, RYT 500 is a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500 hour level through Yoga Alliance receiving her training from the Institute of Interdisciplinary Yoga Studies (IIYS).  It was during her studies at IIYS she met her teacher for life, Judith Lasater.  Judith’s Iyengar influence and physical therapy background helped Pam understand the importance of body awareness.  She realized if we can correct the imbalances in our bodies, and our posture, we can help relieve pain.  Pam went on to study Judith’s restorative yoga which has become her favorite style to teach.  Pam loves the quote from one of her students after a restorative class “I think this is the answer to world peace.”  It certainly can help us manage the daily stress of our lives.  Pam holds classes specifically for those facing fertility challenges to help to manage their stress.

Angie Martin, RYT200, teaches adult and childrens yoga classes and is currently completing a Specialists degree in School Psychology. She has her Masters in Social Work and is currently working on her certification in Elementary Education. Renee has trained with the founder of Itsy Bitsy Yoga, Helen Garabedian and has plans to complete the Radiant Child programs. She has found that nothing forces her to be more present in the moment than doing yoga with a baby or young child and she's not sure who benefits more from the practice - her students or herself!

Tonya hopes to inspire students to live less in the mind and more from the heart.
